The Westfall Local School District Calendar for the 2024-2025 school year was recently approved by the Board of Education on January 9, 2024. This calendar can also be found on our website under Explore > Calendars.
In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there is NO SCHOOL for students and staff on Monday, January 15, 2024. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Today's PBIS Assembly was a hit! Our students were greeted by the WHS Band, then participated in a fun Staff vs. Student Jeopardy game to review PBIS expectations! The students won! It was alright, though; the staff was able to "Shake It Off" with a flash mob!

Just a reminder that this week, Student Council is hosting a sock drive. Please bring in any new socks of any size or kind to be donated to local homeless and women's shelters. If we can meet our goal of 1,000 pairs of socks, the whole school earns an ice cream party! We will collect socks through next Tuesday, January 16th.
In addition to celebrating School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, our District SRO & DARE Officer, Corey Hamlin, met with 5th-grade classes this week to begin the DARE curriculum.
The DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program is a widely recognized program that educates students about the dangers of drug and alcohol use and how to make informed decisions when faced with peer pressure and bullying. Each year, we look forward to seeing the positive impact that the DARE program will have on our students!

We're thrilled to announce that with the help of our generous donors – Westfall Education Foundation, WES Field of Dreams, and Atomic Credit Union – we have reached the halfway point of our fundraising goal for a Book Vending Machine at Westfall Elementary!
The Book Vending Machine will be stocked with a variety of leveled books that cater to students' interests. Students will receive tokens earned as a reward for positive behavior or for reaching a reading goal, which are used to receive a free book!

WES Student Council is hosting a sock drive next week, January 8-12. Please bring in any pairs of new and clean socks- they can be any size, kind, and material. Our goal is to collect 1,000 pairs of socks! These socks will be given to local homeless and women's shelters and shared with our Westfall CARES organization. If we meet our goal, the students will get a hot chocolate party during lunch!
GREAT NEWS! THE MOBILE DENTIST IS COMING BACK!
Our school has again collaborated with Smile Programs, the Mobile Dentists, to offer in-school dental care. The Mobile Dentists will visit Westfall Elementary School February 12-14. During this visit, they will offer restorative treatment (i.e., cavity fillings, etc.)

Dental care includes a complete dental exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride, sealants when necessary, and sometimes restorative care such as fillings.

Unlike traditional vending machines that accept money, book vending machines take tokens, which are earned as a reward for positive behavior or reaching a reading goal. These tokens are used in the machine to reward students with a free book!
